🏸 Bmw E60 Ac Not Blowing Cold Air
Symptoms are as follows; The system was blowing warm air at any temperature setting even thought the charge is OK. I disconnected the heater control valves and now the air blows cold. The Auxiliary Fan comes on after about 3-4 minutes with the compressor running but runs at erratic speeds at first then only runs on high. Sounds like an airplane.

Black 328xi Discussion starter · Jul 30, 2011. My car decided to stop blowing cold air. My guess is it may be out of refrigerant. I see in the warranty refrigerant is not covered. How much does BMW hit you over the head for a recharge? Should I just take it in anyway to confirm that is the problem.

I am also having the same problem. Suddenly the fan stopped blowing, about a week ago. However, over the winter I've noticed that when the weather was cold the heater would make a cricket noise for the first 10 seconds or so and it goes away. I think that was the blower making that noise, now I thought about it more.
1. Electrically disconnect the heater valve (you might need to pull the cross brace and driver's side engine air intake to get there). Then I took it for a drive, AC on, set to vents and floor, both sides at 60 deg. Result, both footwells got extremely hot air. This means the valve defaults to the open position.
now, after 15 minutes engine running at full cold (to clean the stuff) it smells like the stuff, but no stink crap it might have worked, so ill give it a try for a few days and will keep you posted guys. thanks to the BMW technicians at Hamel BMW Blainville (montreal Canada) for the tip
Yes, thermostat is sticking, replace it. If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes.
I enabled the temp gauge through the service menu. The engine came up to 98 deg C within about 4-5 minutes of driving and held steady. I had the heating system off. When I put it on full blast, the engine temp dipped to 94 deg C and stayed there. I shut the heater off and the temp came back up to 98 deg C.
