Makes you think about how one day even a game like Crysis will look to us the same way Half-Life does now. I don't actually think it will. A lot of early 3D games look shitty to us now because they objectively were shitty.
Yes that is the thirdperson model, it's pretty much a untextured hl1 model of Gordon. I believe that they didn't think having a fully modeled and textured Freeman was needed since you would never normally see it. That said they did make a model for Freeman, but would only be used later for HL2: Survivor.
